The RNA Summer Party – as always, a night to remember

Twice a year – once in the summer and once in the winter – RNA members and friends converge from all parts of the UK in the Royal Overseas League in Park Place, off St. James Street, in order to party. The Summer Party 2015, which took place on the evening of May 21st, was even better than ever, and once again, I’m going to indulge myself by posting some of the photos I took, which allows me to re-live the fun I had.

To start at the beginning. The AGM preceded the party, and during this, I was confirmed as RNA Libraries’ Liaison. After the AGM, with a short period of time before the party was due to begin, the balcony and the glorious weather beckoned, and we headed for a glass of wine in the sun.

On the balcony …

  • Great pics, Liz.
Some super memories of a great night.
    Well done and thanks,

    John

  • As always Liz – lovely collection of pix. It was such a good night.

    • It was a fabulous night. They are always good, but this topped them all so far. I love the way your hair’s come out. I wanted the book next to it to pick up the accuracy of colour!

  • Great pictures, Liz.

    • Many thanks for your comment, Debs. It was a lovely evening, and I always enjoy having a pictorial record of such evenings – plus it means that I can save my words for the current wip!

  • Great pix, Liz, as always. It was a fantastic evening.

  • Thank you Liz – it’s like having all the names on my kindle brought to life!

  • People I know!!! Having fun!!! Yaay!!!

    • Perhaps you’ll be able to make the Winter Party, Carol. I do hope so. I’m looking forward to meeting you other than in cyberspace. 🙂

  • Fab photos Liz, thanks so much for posting. It was an amazing night. Hope to see you soon.

    Nikki xx

    • Hopefully, I’ll see you at the conference, Nikki. ‘Twas a lovely pic of you and your aunt, I thought. xxx

  • Hallo, Hallo Ms Harris!

Wicked happy I caught this being tweeted about today! 🙂 I truly loved the backstage pass and especially getting to see such a lovely group of authors I am itching to read as much as grateful I can interact with during our ChocLitSaturdays! Truly a great capture of the event and all the happy joys you all must have had whilst you were there! Sweet blog share, truly! Love!

    • I love the idea of a ‘backstage pass’, Jorie. How apt! I’m glad you enjoyed looking at the pics – I imagine it makes it more interesting to be able to see in your head the friends with whom you communicate on twitter. I’ll take more at RNAConf15. 🙂

  • Lovely photos and a big thank you for including everyone’s names! You obviously all had a great time – one day I’ll have to time a visit to England better and come and join you.

    • We shall hold you to that, Angela. The ideal time to come to the UK would be for the July conference one year. That way, you’d really have sufficient time to meet and talk to everyone. I look forward to it!

  • What a wonderful collection of photos Liz. Thanks for including me, twice too! The view from the balcony pic is like a painting-lovely. It was great to see you, and catch up over a drink. See you at the RNA Conference 🙂

    • I’m really looking forward to the conference, too, Anita. I always enjoy them. The balcony picture was suggested to me by Jenny Barden. I thought it a great idea, turned in my chair and snapped it. It’s fun to see outside the room on occasions. 🙂

  • Thanks for posting such great pictures. It looks like you all had a terrific time!

    • Many thanks for your comment, Christina. We had great fun – the weather was very kind to us, and being able to sit outside in the sun between the AGM and the party started the evening off to perfection. I’ve been to a lot of RNA parties and this was definitely one of the best. 🙂

  • Lovely pics, Liz, of a lovely event 🙂

    • It was lovely to meet you, Lynne, albeit for briefly. Hopefully, next time we’ll have longer and can improve upon just saying hello. 🙂

  • Fabulous blog & photos, Liz. I couldn’t make it this time so it’s wonderful to see it all brought to life here. Thanks so much for sharing all the info Xx

    • I’m glad you enjoyed looking at them, Jan. You were missed. If you go to the conference, I’ll see you there, though. xx

  • Thank you for posting so many party pics. I’m so sorry I couldn’t make it.
    Heather

  • What fab pics! Judging from the smiles everyone had an amazing time – a ‘wish I had been there’ moment!

    • Many thanks for your comment, Linn. Yes, the smiles said it all. Perhaps you’ll make the next party, or the conference which is before than that. I hope so. 🙂
